This will not be a skills clinic\, but rather a low-key and playful group session to explore all that Gateway Green has to offer. \n\n\n\nThe ride is open to all genders\, and will be led by women from River City Bicycles.  \n\n\n\nAll beginner and intermediate level riders are welcome. Please sign this waiver in order to participate.  \n\n\n\nA flat-bar bike with front suspension is preferable (i.e. a hardtail or full-suspension MTB\, or a dirt jumper). An exception to this would be a BMX bike\, which would be welcomed.  \n\n\n\nMeet by the pump track at the center of the park by 5:00pm\, or if you’re running late just look for ride leaders in River City Bicycles t-shirts in the park.  \n\n\n\nQuestions can be directed to Isabella at isabellat@rivercitybicycles.com. \n\n\n\nEvents like these are made possible through a close partnership with River City Bicycles and the Northwest Trail Alliance. To support these type of opportunities\, consider becoming a NWTA Member today. \n\n\n\n*IMPORTANT* These events fill quickly and always have a waitlist of people hoping to join. It is imperative that you stand by your commitment and SHOW UP. We understand that life happens\, please notify us if you are unable to make it\, at least 24 hours before the event so we can offer your spot to someone else.

You can shift gears\, corner\, climb and descend\, but there are a few places where they need to get off the bike to walk. You are interested in rolling over taller features\, and possibly riding pump tracks (or rolling terrain) without pedaling the whole time. You can ride 2 miles or more on a trail or bike path. \n\n\n\nThis class is for: a beginning to intermediate rider who has taken a class or two but wants some skills to handle some more technical features. \n\n\n\nDuring this class: Riders will review their basic body position and spend more time riding over varying terrain including trails and rolling terrain\, as well as brake and corner with more confidence. They’ll learn to climb\, descend and ride faster; they’ll also learn slow-riding skills to have fun riding more technical trails with features up to 2” high or so on the way up and up to 4” or so high on the way down. We will also discuss riding in a group and trail etiquette\, basic bike fit information\, decision-making on the trail on whether to ride a feature or not and safe bailout techniques when things get too interesting.  \n\n\n\nBike: A mountain bike\, either a hardtail or full suspension in good working condition with platform pedals\, knobby tires\, two-hand brakes (front and rear)\, and a seat that can move up and down. Single speeds are OK but a bike with gears will be more fun on the climbs. No worn-out tires or kickstands.  \n\n\n\nRequired Gear:  \n\n\n\n-A properly fitting helmet in good condition and is less than 5 years old. \n\n\n\n-Water bottle and snacks \n\n\n\n-Clothing appropriate for the weather \n\n\n\n-Tools for moving the seat up and down if necessary \n\n\n\n-Pack to carry layers\, snacks\, tools\, and water \n\n\n\nRecommended Gear: \n\n\n\n-Full-fingered gloves \n\n\n\n-Knee and elbow protection \n\n\n\n-Eye protection \n\n\n\n-Tools and supplies to change a flat tire (with assistance!) \n\n\n\nOnce registered\, please sign the waiver HERE \n\n\n\nNWTA follows the current state-mandated protocols. The information can be found here: State of Oregon COVID mandates \n\n\n\nHave questions? Email elaine.b@elainebbikes.com

SUMMARY:Friday Night MTB Lights at Stub Stewart - 11/11
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE. \nThis is a “no drop” ride. Be ready to roll at 6:15. This ride also requires a special use permit in addition to the parking fee. The special use permit will be handed out before the start of the ride for display in your vehicle. \nA good riding light is required. Two are recommended\, one for your bars and one for your helmet. \nIf you don’t have lights and would like to try night riding\, we have several sets to try out which are donated by our sponsors Metropolis Cycles\, Trek\, and BTI. Email sidsbike2020@gmail.com to reserve a set. \nTypical ride is climb up to Unfit Settlement\, then ride Shoofly\, optional Williams Creek Loop\, then back to Hilltop. This is around 8 miles with about 1\,000 feet of elevation gain. This is about a 1.5 to 2 hour ride. You should be comfortable riding berms and flow trails for this ride. \nSign this waiver to participate. \nEvents like these are made possible through NWTA membership dollars and NWTA volunteer work on the trails at Stub Stewart State Park. If you are not a member or need to renew\, please do so here so we can continue to spread the love! Please consider volunteering at upcoming work parties as well. \n*IMPORTANT* These events fill quickly and may have a waitlist of people hoping to join. It is imperative that you stand by your commitment and SHOW UP. We understand that life happens\, please notify us if you are unable to make it\, at least 24 hours before the event so we can offer your spot to someone else. \nBeer donated by our sponsor\, Hopworks Urban Brewery.
