We plan to break into two groups\, Beginners and Intermediates. The Beginner route will cover ~5 miles and ~1000 feet of elevation\, and include guidance on bike handling skills. The Intermediate route will cover ~10 miles and ~2000 feet of elevation gain. Both routes should take around two hours. \n\n\n\nThe ride’s open to all genders\, and will be led by women from River City Bicycles. \n\n\n\nPlease bring a helmet- or handlebar-mounted light for safety\, as we’ll be riding close to dusk. DESCRIPTION:This is a “no drop” ride. Be ready to roll at 6:15. This ride also requires a special use permit in addition to the parking fee. The special use permit will be handed out before the start of the ride for display in your vehicle. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nA good riding light is required. Two are recommended\, one for your bars and one for your helmet. \n\n\n\nIf you don’t have lights and would like to try night riding\, we have several sets to try out which are donated by our sponsors Metropolis Cycles\, Trek\, and BTI. Email sidsbike2020@gmail.com to reserve a set. \n\n\n\nTypical ride is climb up to Unfit Settlement\, then ride Shoofly\, optional Williams Creek Loop\, then back to Hilltop. This is around 8 miles with about 1\,000 feet of elevation gain. This is about a 1.5 to 2 hour ride. You should be comfortable riding berms and flow trails for this ride and be in good shape. This is not a ride for beginners. \n\n\n\nTypical Ride \n\n\n\nSign this waiver to participate \n\n\n\nEvents like these are made possible through NWTA membership dollars and NWTA volunteer work on the trails at Stub Stewart State Park. If you are not a member or need to renew\, please do so here so we can continue to spread the love! DESCRIPTION:The Trail Sustainability Institute presents: Trail School: Intro to Rock Work in collaboration with the US Forest Service in Cascade Locks. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nThe Trail Sustainability Institute\, in collaboration with the Forest Service invite you to a two-day field course on rock work for trails on the developing Cascade Locks Trail system. Course objectives will include an understanding of ideal rock size & shapes for rock structures; safe and sustainable quarrying and transport of rock\, including high-line systems; construction of effective rock walls from one to three tiers; installing rip rap features and other minor trail armoring. This course will focus on safety\, dry-laid walling techniques\, and hands-on learning. The lead instructor will be Nathaniel Brodie\, Trails Manager for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area\, USFS. \n\n\n\nC﻿amping at the Wyeth Campground is available\, if you would like to embrace the entire weekend experience. There are no water or bathroom amenities\, available this time of year. These individuals provide guidance\, vision and share their knowledge with their crew of trail builders. If you are a seasoned Trail Steward who is interested in expanding your skills and tapping into becoming a leader\, this training is for you! \n\n\n\nNorthwest Trail Alliance’s Trail Sustainability Institute’s goal is to foster a culture of land stewardship within the mountain bike community. By teaching people how to build sustainable trails\, and by training trail builders to lead crews of trail stewards\, we are raising the level of our own stewardship\, and increasing our capacity to build and maintain quality trails. \n\n\n\nT﻿he meeting will be held at Stub Stewart State Park in the Mountain Dale Cabin Village Meeting Hall. Drive past the Hilltop Day-Use Area (although carpooling from Hilltop may be necessary) to the Cabin Village.  \n\n\n\nWhat to wear: \n\n\n\nHalf of this training is indoors (morning) while the second half is outdoors. DESCRIPTION:Join us and our friends at Portland Parks & Recreation as we work on improving the Doug Fir trail. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nJ﻿oin NWTA & Portland Parks as we head to Powell Butte to get the trails repaired for the winter season. \n\n\n\nWhere to Meet \n\n\n\nPowell Butte Visitors Center – 16160 SE Powell Blvd. \n\n\n\nScope of Work \n\n\n\nWe will be working on the Doug Fir trail. \n\n\n\nNo experience necessary! Youth participants must be at least age 14\, and all volunteers aged 14-17 must have a parent or guardian sign our youth waiver forms. \n\n\n\nWear sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, long pants\, and long-sleeved shirts. Bring rain gear and/or sun gear\, a hat\, a filled water bottle\, and snacks. Bring gloves if you have a pair and prefer to use your own. Instruction\, tools\, and gloves are otherwise provided. \n\n\n\nYou will walk up to 5 miles from the meeting location and restrooms\, so please be ready to hike. Join the Trail Sisters as we get after some trail updates and maintenance on our beloved Fanny’s Yer Aunt trail (that btw\, was designed and built by women). No experience is required. Trail Sisters are women and non-binary folks who love to support each other both on and off the trail. \n\n\n\nThe dig will run from 9:30 am to 1 pm with lunch (provided) to follow. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure that you are adequately checked in. DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED \n\n\n\nJoin the Trail Sisters for a day of trail work @ Rocky Point. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Trail Sisters as we get after some trail enhancements on one of the newer trails on the southside of the system. The work ahead of us will be clearing\, benching and armoring. No experience is required. Trail Sisters are women and non-binary folks who love to support each other both on and off the trail. \n\n\n\nThe dig will run from 9:30 am to 1 pm with snacks (provided) to follow. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure that you are adequately checked in. We are starting promptly at 9:30 am. \n\n\n\nWe will meet in the mid-parking lot at Rocky Point and disburse from there. \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\n-Work clothes: Light long-sleeve shirt \n\n\n\n-Long Pants (no shorts) \n\n\n\n-Boots \n\n\n\n-Gloves \n\n\n\n-Eye Protection \n\n\n\n-Gloves \n\n\n\n-Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n-Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n-Water \n\n\n\n-Snacks & Lunch \n\n\n\nPost event snacks & beverages are provided \n\n\n\nTOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED. You are not required to bring any tools\, but if you have your own folding saw\, loppers\, rake\, shovel\, or hoe\, feel free to bring it. \n\n\n\nIn accordance with our agreement with Weyerhaeuser\, the land manager of Rocky Point\, those who enter the property must be a NWTA member in good standing and have signed the Rocky Point Waiver . Join NWTA and become one of 5\,000+ mountain bikers stewarding trails together in NW Oregon and SW Washington.
