All volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian present and sign our waiver forms. \n\n\n\nWear sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, long pants\, and long-sleeved shirts. Bring rain gear and/or sun gear\, a hat\, a filled water bottle\, and snacks. Bring gloves if you have a pair and prefer to use your own. Instruction\, tools\, and gloves are otherwise provided. \n\n\n\nYou will walk up to 5 miles from the meeting location and restrooms\, so please be ready to hike. DESCRIPTION:NWTA’s Trail Sustainability Institute will be hosting Trail School at Tillamook State Forest on the Step Creek trail. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nTrail School teaches the fundamental skills needed to maintain our trails. Participants will be learning safety techniques and tool identification/uses\, as well as hands-on training of corridor clearing\, drainage\, and benchwork. \n\n\n\nNorthwest Trail Alliance’s Trail Sustainability Institute’s goal is to foster a culture of land stewardship within the mountain bike community. DESCRIPTION:Help us clear a new line in the clear-cut. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nSummary of work goals \n\n\n\nWe will be clearing debris on a new flagged line in the Skeet clear cut. It’s essential to get any trails in this area cleared of debris before Weyerhaeuser starts planting. This descent will run from the top of the clear cut down to the main gate road. \n\n\n\nSpecific work focus \n\n\n\nClear debris (branches and logs) from the flagged line to ensure it is visibly a trail corridor  \n\n\n\nTools needed \n\n\n\nHands with sturdy gloves on them!• Steel Rakes• Hand saws \n\n\n\nGear Suggestions \n\n\n\nThe clear cut is very steep and slippery from recent snow/rain. Sturdy hiking soles will help with traction. Be prepared for mud and make sure you wear good gloves. Bring a backpack or bag with water\, snacks\, and anything else you may need.  \n\n\n\nWill food be provided? \n\n\n\nYes\, Lunchtime tbd on exact food.  \n\n\n\nWill we be riding after? \n\n\n\nYes\, if weather permits \n\n\n\nNotes \n\n\n\nWe will plan on meeting at the main RP lot for our pre-work briefing\, then consolidate into a few cars and drive in via the shuttle gate.

SUMMARY:Trail Sisters Dig Day at Rocky Point - 2/24
DESCRIPTION:Join the Trail Sisters for a day of trail work at Rocky Point. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nJoin the Trail Sisters as we get after some trail work\, including corridor refining\, bench work and armoring. No experience is required. Trail Sisters are women and non-binary folks who love to support each other both on and off the trail. \n\n\n\nThe dig will run from 9:30 am to 1 pm. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure that you are adequately checked in. We are starting promptly at 9:30 am. \n\n\n\nWe will meet in the mid-parking lot at Rocky Point and disburse from there. \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\n-Work clothes: Light long-sleeve shirt \n\n\n\n-Long Pants (no shorts) \n\n\n\n-Boots \n\n\n\n-Gloves \n\n\n\n-Eye Protection \n\n\n\n-Gloves \n\n\n\n-Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n-Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n-Water \n\n\n\n-Snacks/Lunch \n\n\n\nTOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED. You are not required to bring any tools\, but if you have your own folding saw\, loppers\, rake\, shovel\, or hoe\, feel free to bring it. \n\n\n\nIn accordance with our agreement with Weyerhaeuser\, the land manager of Rocky Point\, those who enter the property must be a NWTA member in good standing and have signed the Rocky Point Waiver . Join NWTA and become one of 5\,000+ mountain bikers stewarding trails together in NW Oregon and SW Washington. If the cost of membership creates a financial hardship\, please reach out to us\, we can help with that barrier. \n\n\n\nThese events are very popular and sell out quickly. You will need to take Skyline and drive down Rocky Point Road to the main lot to avoid the closure. \n\n\n\nSummary of work goalsIf the Skeet Chute clear cut isn’t too wet\, we will be working on a new black descent (Honkers) that has already been roughed in. There is some debris to still be cleared\, some minor benching\, some berms to build\, and general tuning of the line. \n\n\n\nIf the clear cut is too wet\, we will work on clearing corridor for another new descent farther in RP. \n\n\n\nSpecific work focus• General improvement of roughed in line / debris clearing as needed \n\n\n\nTools needed• Shovels \n\n\n\n• Hoes \n\n\n\n• Steel Rakes / Sturdy rock rakes • Hand saws \n\n\n\nGear SuggestionsThe clear cut is very steep and slippery from recent snow/rain. Mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable day of digging and discovery at Klootchy Creek County Park! \n\n\n\n10am – 3 pm at Klootchy Creek Park \n\n\n\nTrail work will last approximately 5 hours\, wrapping up at 3:00. \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\nYour bike (optional) \n\n\n\nWork clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\nJacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\nHard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\nWater \n\n\n\nSnacks \n\n\n\nLunch \n\n\n\nFavorite trail tool\, McLeod or Rouge Hoe (We have tools\, but please feel free to bring your own if you are more comfortable with your own). \n\n\n\nOptional: Folding Handsaw \n\n\n\nSafety meeting promptly starts at 10 am. Please arrive 15-20 early to ensure that you are adequately checked in.
