DESCRIPTION:NWTA’s Trail Sustainability Institute will be hosting Trail School at Klootchy Creek. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nTrail School teaches the fundamental skills needed to maintain our trails. Participants will be learning safety techniques and tool identification/uses\, as well as hands-on training of corridor clearing\, drainage\, tread repair and benchwork. \n\n\n\nNorthwest Trail Alliance’s Trail Sustainability Institute’s goal is to foster a culture of land stewardship within the mountain bike community. No experience is required. Trail Sisters are women and non-binary folks who love to support each other both on and off the trail. \n\n\n\nThe dig will run from 9:30 am to 1 pm. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure that you are adequately checked in. Join NWTA and become one of 5\,000+ mountain bikers stewarding trails together in NW Oregon and SW Washington. You will need to take Skyline and drive down Rocky Point Road to the main lot to avoid the closure. \n\n\n\nSummary of work goalsIf the Skeet Chute clear cut isn’t too wet\, we will be working on a new black descent (Honkers) that has already been roughed in. There is some debris to still be cleared\, some minor benching\, some berms to build\, and general tuning of the line. \n\n\n\nIf the clear cut is too wet\, we will work on clearing corridor for another new descent farther in RP. \n\n\n\nSpecific work focus• General improvement of roughed in line / debris clearing as needed \n\n\n\nTools needed• Shovels \n\n\n\n• Hoes \n\n\n\n• Steel Rakes / Sturdy rock rakes • Hand saws \n\n\n\nGear SuggestionsThe clear cut is very steep and slippery from recent snow/rain. DESCRIPTION:register here\n\n\n\n\nThese classes are for kids who are already comfortable riding a bike on some “green (beginner)” level mountain bike dirt trails/grass and can ride down features such as curbs and roots approximately 3-4 inches high. During this class\, Riders will continue to improve their balance over varying terrain\, including trails and pump tracks (or rolling terrain)\, as well as brake and corner with more confidence\, and shift more smoothly. They’ll learn to climb\, descend\, and ride faster; they’ll also learn slow-riding skills to have fun riding more technical trails\, including roll downs and drops 6-10” high – if they want to.  \n\n\n\nA helmet and a bike are required; bikes & helmets are available to loan upon request (must be taller than 48″ for a loaner bike). If you supply your own\, these are the requirements: \n\n\n\n\nBike: The bike has platform pedals\, two hand brakes (front and rear)\, a seat that can move up and down\, and is in good working condition. No coaster brakes\, worn-out tires\, or kickstands. \n\n\n\nHelmet: A helmet fits properly\, is in good condition\, and is less than 5 years old.

DESCRIPTION:Building a new MTB trail in the Columbia River Gorge! \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a thrilling day of trail building and maintenance in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area! This in-person event is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who love to get their hands dirty and contribute to the local mountain biking community. Whether you’re a seasoned trail builder or a newbie\, everyone is welcome to lend a hand and make a difference. We’ll provide the tools and guidance\, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and a willingness to work as a team. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to build the trails we love! \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\n\nWork clothes: long sleeve shirt\, long pants (no shorts)\, sturdy boots\, gloves\, eye protection\n\n\n\nJacket for changing weather and rain (be prepared)\n\n\n\nHard hat or bike helmet (mandatory)\n\n\n\nWater\, Snacks\, Lunch\n\n\n\nOptional: Favorite trail tool\, McLeod or Rouge Hoe (We have tools\, but please feel free to bring your own if you are more comfortable with your own).\n\n\n\n\nTime and Place\n\n\n\n\n9:30 am – 2:30 pm at Wyeth Rd outside of Cascade Locks\n\n\n\nhttps://maps.app.goo.gl/hfcG9ZK8vu3YCGpw6\n\n\n\nTrail work will last approximately 5 hours\, wrapping up at 2:00\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject:\n\n\n\n\nDirt work shaping an finishing a trail\n\n\n\nBuilding berm and turns\n\n\n\nFinishing work post-machine build\n\n\n\n\nTiming\n\n\n\nSafety meeting promptly starts at 9:30 am. Please arrive 15-20 early to ensure that you are adequately checked in.
