SUMMARY:GOOD DIRT\, STOP 2: Cascade Locks - 7/12
DESCRIPTION:Part of the GOOD DIRT 2025 – The RCB/NWTA Ride Series collection. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nUpper Ouroboros Parking on Wyeth Rd. in Cascade Locks \n\n\n\n\nGoogle Maps Link\n\n\n\nTrailforks Link\n\n\n\nCoordinates: 45°41’30.4″N 121°48’27.9″W\n\n\n\nAdditional parking is available along the shoulder of Wyeth Rd. and at other pull-offs and smaller trailheads below this upper trailhead.\n\n\n\n\nThere are various parking spots along the shoulder of Wyeth Road in Cascade Locks\, and the event will be based at the upper Ouroboros parking area\, about 1.7 miles from the turn-off of the frontage road. The spot can be found at this pin or at the coordinates 45°41’30.4″N 121°48’27.9″W. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese are trail rides–requiring a modern trail-capable mountain bike and some trail riding experience–that participants love for the opportunity to meet at the trailhead\, be greeted by River City Bicycles and Northwest Trail Alliance\, learn about the trail systems from the folks who know them best\, and have good times riding in a social group ride format. \n\n\n\nAfter riding\, we wrap things up socially with a tailgate grill sesh or picnic provided by River City Bicycles. \n\n\n\n— \n\n\n\n“modern trail-capable mountain bikes” – recreational or enthusiast-grade mountain bikes featuring larger volume knobby tires\, suspension\, disc brakes\, dropper-posts\, etc. \n\n\n\n“some trail riding experience” – We intend for these trail rides to be open to riders of varying ability levels\, but to be prepared\, riders should be fairly comfortable on their bikes and ready to advance from beginner trails—like those found at Gateway Green—to those found at the larger trail systems we’ll be touring.

SUMMARY:NWTA x Cyclepath West - Beginner MTB Ride in Forest Park - 10/18
DESCRIPTION:Let’s kick off the weekend with a fun beginner mountain bike ride in Forest Park\, hosted by NWTA and Cyclepath West – see you there! \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCurious about mountain biking? Eager to dip your toes into the world of off-road cycling? Join Northwest Trail Alliance and Cyclepath West for a beginner-oriented ride through Portland’s Forest Park. \n\n\n\nThe ride: Cyclepath will provide a shuttle to the top of the Leif Erikson trail. The group will ride back to the shop on Thurman Street along Leif Erikson\, with an optional off-road loop in the middle. Leif Erikson is a double-track gravel roadbed open to bikes but not cars. \n\n\n\n\nOption #1: Leif Erikson from top to bottom (11.5 miles\, rolling descent)\n\n\n\nOption #2: Leif Erikson to Saltzman Rd. to Firelane 5 to Leif Erikson down to lower trailhead (14.5 miles\, rolling decent with a steep up/down on the side loop)\n\n\n\n\nWho this is for: Really\, anyone! The ride will be designed with beginners in mind. You don’t need to know the lingo and you don’t need any off-road experience. This is a great place to see what the off-road hype is all about and make some friends all while enjoying a pleasant\, light ride. \n\n\n\nThe gear: Please come prepared with an off-road ready bike in safe\, working condition. This means the tires are a little wider\, ideally you’ve got some gears\, and suspension (shocks) are useful but not required. If you need to borrow a bike\, connect with Eric (erico@nw-trail.org). Other gear reccomendations include helmet\, water bottle\, snacks\, fanny pack or bike bag\, gloves\, and weather-specific clothing that can get sweaty. \n\n\n\nThe plan: Cyclepath West is excited to host us in their new space on NW Thurman Street. Arrive by 9:00 to go over the plan\, and we’ll be out the door at 9:15. Afterward\, join us for a hang session including light snacks and good company. \n\n\n\nRSVP: This event is free but space is limited\, so please promptly cancel if it turns out that you cannot attend so we can make sure someone else can grab your spot.
