DESCRIPTION:We will potentially finish new trail between the Cedar Grove (#32) and Woodpecker (#33) sections. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMeeting Location \n\n\n\nScoggins Valley Park \n\n\n\n50250 SW Scoggins Valley Road \n\n\n\nGaston\, OR 97119 \n\n\n\nEagle Point Recreation Area Overflow Parking Lot (look for signs; 1 mile northwest of the park’s main entrance on SW Scoggins Valley Road) \n\n\n\nScope of work: \n\n\n\nA sideslope on the trail washed out several months ago. Washington County Parks recently received permission for a re-route for the area. We are hoping to finish work started earlier in the fall. \n\n\n\nWe will be building a trail on a steep sideslope. The trail section includes: \n\n\n\n\nnew full-bench tread\n\n\n\ntwo switchbacks\n\n\n\none or two berms\n\n\n\na crib wall\n\n\n\nrolling grade dips\n\n\n\n\nTools needed (many will be provided; attendees are welcome to bring their own) \n\n\n\n\nMcLeods\n\n\n\nPulaskis\n\n\n\nFire shovels\n\n\n\nFlat shovels\n\n\n\nBuckets\n\n\n\nWheelbarrows\n\n\n\nGarden rakes\n\n\n\nFolding saws\n\n\n\nGrub hoes or Rogue hoes\n\n\n\nChainsaws (will be supplied)Gear Suggestions\n\n\n\nHelmet\n\n\n\nEye protection\n\n\n\nSturdy gloves\n\n\n\nSturdy boots or other protective footwear\n\n\n\nLong-sleeve shirt\n\n\n\nLong pants\n\n\n\nRain gear\, depending upon the weather\n\n\n\nWater & snacks (while at the work locations)\n\n\n\nChange of clothing (for the ride home)\n\n\n\n\nWill food be provided? \n\n\n\nYes\, some alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages + light snacksWill we be riding after? \n\n\n\nNot planned; however\, if weather permits\, people are encouraged to do so! \n\n\n\nNotes \n\n\n\n\nParking passes will be provided for you at the meeting location; attendees do not need to purchase park passes.\n\n\n\nPeople with AT&T cellular service have good reception around the lake; others frequently do not.\n\n\n\nThis will be a long day. You’re welcome to leave early if necessary.\n\n\n\nBring a camping chair\, stay and visit at the end!\n\n\n\nLake Stop Grocery is located on SW Old 47\, roughly 4 miles from the Eagle Point Recreation Area; they have lots of snacks\, beverages\, and other supplies. DESCRIPTION:Join the Trail Sustainability Institute (TSI) as we learn how to approach and mitigate complex drainage issues at Hagg Lake. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn the PNW\, our trails can be highly affected by rainfall\, if not properly aligned and maintained. During this Advanced Trail School\, volunteers will be learning how to identify\, trouble shoot and repair complex drainage issues\, leaving our trails more sustainable and resilient to the elements.  \n\n\n\nNorthwest Trail Alliance’s Trail Sustainability Institute’s goal is to foster a culture of land stewardship within the mountain bike community. By training people to build sustainable trails\, and by training people to lead crews of trail builders\, we are raising the level of our own stewardship\, and increasing our capacity to build and maintain quality trails. \n\n\n\nOnce registered\, please sign the waiver HERE \n\n\n\nWhat to wear: \n\n\n\n– Work clothes: Long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\n– Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n– Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n– Gloves \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\n– Water \n\n\n\n– Snacks \n\n\n\n– Lunch \n\n\n\nSTART time is 9am. Please have yourself and your gear ready by that time.
