DESCRIPTION:We will potentially finish new trail between the Cedar Grove (#32) and Woodpecker (#33) sections. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDIG DAY — Hagg Lake\n\n\n\n9am – 3pm at Eagle Point Recreation area \n\n\n\nMeeting Location \n\n\n\nScoggins Valley Park \n\n\n\n50250 SW Scoggins Valley Road \n\n\n\nGaston\, OR 97119 \n\n\n\nCedar Grove (32) parking lot \n\n\n\nLook for large Northwest Trail Alliance tent \n\n\n\nThe area is roughly 1.5 miles northwest of the park’s main entrance on SW Scoggins Valley Road. There are bathrooms at Eagle Point’s main parking area \n\n\n\nTime: 9 AM – 3 PM \n\n\n\n9:00 – 9:15: introduction\, safety talk\, and work plan \n\n\n\n9:15 – 9:30: walk to work site \n\n\n\n9:30 – 2:30: work \n\n\n\n2:30 – 2:45: return to meeting location \n\n\n\n2:45 – 3:00 PM: treats\, drinks\, debrief\, and swag raffle \n\n\n\nScope of work: \n\n\n\nA sideslope on the trail washed out several months ago. Washington County Parks receive permission for a re-route for the area. \n\n\n\nWe are hoping to finish work started earlier in the fall. \n\n\n\nWe will be building a trail on a steep sideslope. The trail section includes \n\n\n\n\nnew full-bench tread\n\n\n\ntwo switchbacks\n\n\n\none new berm\n\n\n\nthree crib walls\n\n\n\nrolling grade dips\n\n\n\n\nOur goals for the day \n\n\n\n\ncomplete the switchbacks\n\n\n\nfinish building the final crib wall\n\n\n\nadd gravel to the tread\n\n\n\nestablish the new tread outslope\n\n\n\nre-naturalize the outsloped tread\n\n\n\npotentially brush out the closed trail section between Cedar Grove (32) and Woodpecker (33)\n\n\n\n\nTools needed (many will be provided; attendees are welcome to bring their own) \n\n\n\n\nMcLeods\n\n\n\nFire shovels\n\n\n\nFlat shovels\n\n\n\nBuckets\n\n\n\nWheelbarrows\n\n\n\nGarden rakes\n\n\n\nFolding saws\n\n\n\nGrub hoes or Rogue hoes\n\n\n\n\nGear Suggestions \n\n\n\n\nChange of clothing (for the ride home)\n\n\n\nWater & snacks (while at the work locations)\n\n\n\nRain gear\, depending upon the weather\n\n\n\nLong pants\n\n\n\nLong-sleeve shirt\n\n\n\nSturdy boots or other protective footwear\n\n\n\nSturdy gloves\n\n\n\nEye protection\n\n\n\nHelmet (mandatory for this event – cycling helmets are okay to use)\n\n\n\n\nWill food be provided?Yes\, some beverages and snacks will be provided. \n\n\n\nWill we be riding after? \n\n\n\nNot planned; however\, if weather permits\, people are encouraged to do so! \n\n\n\nNotes \n\n\n\n\nParking passes will be provided for you at the meeting location; attendees do not need to purchase park passes.\n\n\n\nPeople with AT&T cellular service have good reception around the lake; others frequently do not.\n\n\n\nThis will be a long day. You’re welcome to leave early if necessary.\n\n\n\nBring a camping chair\, stay and visit at the end!\n\n\n\nLake Stop Grocery is located on SW Old 47\, roughly 4 miles from the Eagle Point Recreation Area; they have lots of snacks\, beverages\, and other supplies.
