DESCRIPTION:Join NWTA at the Mt. St. Helens National Monument for a day of trail work & an optional weekend of camping and group rides. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWorkparty Date: Saturday\, May 31st from 9am-3pm \n\n\n\nCampout Dates: Friday\, May 30th – Sunday\, June 1st. \n\n\n\nJoin NWTA & Growlers Gulch Racing for a work party and optional campout at Coldwater Lake at the Mt. St. Helens National Monument. \n\n\n\nDue to our strong partnership with the US Forest Service we are permitted to camp overnight (primitive) from May 30th – June 1st near the shores of Coldwater Lake. This rare opportunity is only available during this event.  \n\n\n\nPlease note that the space for campers is limited. There is also no water or dump facilites at the camp site. Restrooms will be available for camper’s use just a short walk from camp. \n\n\n\nInformation about Coldwater Lake: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=40398 \n\n\n\nAll ages and skill levels are welcome. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring for the work party: \n\n\n\n* Work clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Gloves\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\n* Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n* Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n* Water \n\n\n\n* Snacks \n\n\n\n* Lunch \n\n\n\nPlease bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes\, McLeod\, rouge hoe\, loppers) \n\n\n\nWaiver – Once registered\, please sign the waiver HERE. \n\n\n\nFood will not be provided for Friday night campers \n\n\n\nAfter the work party\, NWTA will host a BBQ for all the volunteers. \n\n\n\nPET (DOG) OWNERS: If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the campsite. SUMMARY:Trail Restoration Day: Railyard and Drip Torch Berm Work at Stub - 6/8
DESCRIPTION:We will be working on a new drop line on Railyard and working on berms on Drip Torch. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin us for a community effort to restore our beloved mountain bike trails impacted by a recent forest thinning project aimed at improving forest health. Together\, we’ll work to repair and enhance the trails to ensure they’re safe\, sustainable\, and ready for riders again. \n\n\n\nThis restoration effort will be flexible\, as we’ll adapt our work to the unique challenges presented by the thinning project. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome—whether you’re a seasoned trail builder or new to trail work\, there’s a role for you! \n\n\n\n10am – 3pm \n\n\n\nMeet at the far end of the Hilltop Day Use Area \n\n\n\nTrail work will last approximately 5 hours\, wrapping up at 3:00. \n\n\n\nWhat To Bring: \n\n\n\nWork clothes: Long sleeve shirt\, Long Pants (no shorts)\, Boots\, Eye Protection & Gloves \n\n\n\nJacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\nHard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\nWater \n\n\n\nSnacks/Lunch \n\n\n\nBike – If you would like\, bring your bike and ride back to the area where we will be working. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we take on some challenging drainage issues as well as getting the trail ready for the summer season. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMeeting Location \n\n\n\nScoggins Valley Park \n\n\n\n50250 SW Scoggins Valley Road \n\n\n\nGaston\, OR 97119 \n\n\n\nEagle Point (#34) parking lot before the main parking are with lake access. This is the meeting location. \n\n\n\nThe area is roughly 1.5 miles northwest of the park’s main entrance on SW Scoggins Valley Road. There are bathrooms at Eagle Point’s main parking area \n\n\n\nTools needed (many will be provided; attendees are welcome to bring their own) \n\n\n\n\nMcLeods\n\n\n\nSpade/Digging shovels\n\n\n\nFlat shovels\n\n\n\nBuckets\n\n\n\nGarden rakes\n\n\n\nFolding saws\n\n\n\nGrub hoes or Rogue hoes\n\n\n\n\nGear Suggestions \n\n\n\n\nChange of clothing (for the ride home)\n\n\n\nWater & snacks (while at the work locations)\n\n\n\nRain gear\, depending upon the weather\n\n\n\nLong pants\n\n\n\nLong-sleeve shirt\n\n\n\nSturdy boots or other protective footwear\n\n\n\nSturdy gloves\n\n\n\nEye protection\n\n\n\nHelmet (mandatory for this event – cycling helmets are okay to use)\n\n\n\n\nWill we be riding after? \n\n\n\nNot planned; however\, if weather permits\, people are encouraged to do so! \n\n\n\nNotes \n\n\n\n\nParking passes will be provided for you at the meeting location; attendees do not need to purchase park passes.\n\n\n\nPeople with AT&T cellular service have good reception around the lake; others frequently do not.\n\n\n\nThis will be a long day. You’re welcome to leave early if necessary.\n\n\n\nBring a camping chair\, stay and visit at the end!\n\n\n\nLake Stop Grocery is located on SW Old 47\, roughly 4 miles from the Eagle Point Recreation Area; they have lots of snacks\, beverages\, and other supplies.
