DESCRIPTION:The Trail Sustainability Institute presents: Trail School: Intro to Rock Work in collaboration with the US Forest Service in Cascade Locks. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\nThe Trail Sustainability Institute\, in collaboration with the Forest Service invite you to a two-day field course on rock work for trails on the developing Cascade Locks Trail system. Course objectives will include an understanding of ideal rock size & shapes for rock structures; safe and sustainable quarrying and transport of rock\, including high-line systems; construction of effective rock walls from one to three tiers; installing rip rap features and other minor trail armoring. This course will focus on safety\, dry-laid walling techniques\, and hands-on learning. The lead instructor will be Nathaniel Brodie\, Trails Manager for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area\, USFS. \n\n\n\nC﻿amping at the Wyeth Campground is available\, if you would like to embrace the entire weekend experience. There are no water or bathroom amenities\, available this time of year. Please plan accordingly for primitive car camping.  \n\n\n\nW﻿hat to bring: \n\n\n\n\nR﻿ain gear\n\n\n\nLayers of clothing\n\n\n\nW﻿aterproof/water resistant gloves (multiple pairs)\n\n\n\nH﻿ard Hat or Helmet (REQUIRED)\n\n\n\nS﻿afety Glasses (NWTA will provide or bring your own)\n\n\n\nP﻿ersonal First Aid Kit (EpiPen or any other personal needs)\n\n\n\nW﻿ater \n\n\n\nS﻿nacks\n\n\n\n\nL﻿UNCH WILL BE PROVIDED BOTH DAYS \n\n\n\nP﻿lease take a moment to sign our ever-important waiver. \n\n\n\nIt is opportunities like these that are possible because of NWTA membership dollars.
