Learn from our very own Mark Rainha\, professional trail builder and lead steward at Gateway Green. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: \n\n\n\n\nWarm clothing and extra layers.\n\n\n\nRain jacket (and rain pants if you have them and the weather calls for it): It’s April in the PNW\, odds are high it’ll rain\, but that doesn’t stop us from digging!\n\n\n\nGloves (waterproof are best): It wouldn’t hurt to bring an extra pair\, too.\n\n\n\nSturdy shoes\n\n\n\nHelmet or hard hat (required)\n\n\n\nEye protection\n\n\n\nWater\n\n\n\nSnacks and lunch\n\n\n\nBike and bike gear for post-dig rips\n\n\n\n\nAny necessary tools will be provided. Washington County Parks has received approval from the Bureau of Land Reclamation for a 1/2 mile – 1 mile re-route to restore access to the trail. We are building that section of trail. It will likely include installation of a short bridge\, one culvert\, 3+ rock sections\, 3+ climbing turns\, and potentially retaining walls. For this work party\, we’ll be continuing construction of the new section – and potentially one or more of the planned features.\n\n\n\nEquipment we will be using will include\, but not be limited to: rakes\, McLeods\, Pulaskis\, hoes\, shovels\, chainsaws\, hand saws\, loppers\, wheelbarrows\, buckets\, and others. Tools will be provided; however\, if you’d like to bring additional tools\, you are welcome and encouraged to do so.\n\n\n\nEquipment needed: helmet (cycling helmets are OK)\, long pants\, sturdy\, comfortable footwear\, and good work gloves. We can help ensure you have a helmet\, if needed. Long sleeve shirts are recommended. If conditions are wet\, rain gear is recommended.\n\n\n\n\nOther Notes: \n\n\n\n\nDrinks\, snacks\, and swag will not be provided at the end of this event. Please bring water and snacks to keep with you at the work site.\n\n\n\nParking passes will be provided; no parking fee is required.\n\n\n\nVolunteer waivers will be available at the work site. They will need to be signed prior to beginning work. On Sunday\, April 12th we will be picking up the trash alongside Rocky Point Rd in Scappoose. Our objective will be to remove trash from the roadside that we bike on\, be good neighbors to those who share this area with us\, and be better stewards of our planet. \n\n\n\nWhen: Sunday\, April 12th from 9:30 to 1:00 \n\n\n\nWhere: Rocky Point Central Trailhead (45.696324\, -122.888672). We will be meeting at the kiosk at the main trailhead on the south side. Have yourself and gear ready to go by 9:30. We recommend showing up early to ensure we respect each other’s time. \n\n\n\nWho: You! Our NWTA community is invited to join us in giving back to our planet. \n\n\n\nWhat (to bring): Bright clothes! We will be roadside\, make sure you are highly visible. Gloves and sturdy shoes. Bring plenty of snacks and water. Garbage bags and pickers will be provided. The scope of work for this work party will be focusing on tread and pruning back vegeatation on the 9-mile “Browns Camp Loop”\, in partnership with Westside Trail Federation\, Trailkeepers of Oregon\, State Forest Trust of Oregon\, Daybreak Racing\, and Oregon Equestrian Trails. \n\n\n\nWe’ll be starting at 8:30am\, work on trail until 2pm\, then reconvene afterward for a hot meal and good times. \n\n\n\nTools can be provided as needed. Washington County Parks has received approval from the Bureau of Land Reclamation for a 1/2 mile – 1 mile re-route to restore access to the trail. We are building that section of trail. It will likely include installation of a short bridge\, one culvert\, 3+ rock sections\, 3+ climbing turns\, and potentially retaining walls. For this work party\, we’ll be continuing construction of the new section – and potentially one or more of the planned features.\n\n\n\nEquipment we will be using will include\, but not be limited to: rakes\, McLeods\, Pulaskis\, hoes\, shovels\, chainsaws\, hand saws\, loppers\, wheelbarrows\, buckets\, and others. Tools will be provided; however\, if you’d like to bring additional tools\, you are welcome and encouraged to do so.\n\n\n\nEquipment needed: helmet (cycling helmets are OK)\, long pants\, sturdy\, comfortable footwear\, and good work gloves. We can help ensure you have a helmet\, if needed. Long sleeve shirts are recommended. If conditions are wet\, rain gear is recommended.\n\n\n\n\nOther Notes: \n\n\n\n\nDrinks\, snacks\, and swag will not be provided at the end of this event. Please bring water and snacks to keep with you at the work site.\n\n\n\nParking passes will be provided; no parking fee is required.\n\n\n\nVolunteer waivers will be available at the work site. They will need to be signed prior to beginning work. Tools will be provided; however\, if you’d like to bring additional tools\, you are welcome and encouraged to do so.\n\n\n\nEquipment needed: helmet (cycling helmets are OK)\, long pants\, sturdy\, comfortable footwear\, and good work gloves. We can help ensure you have a helmet\, if needed. Long sleeve shirts are recommended. If conditions are wet\, rain gear is recommended.\n\n\n\n\nOther Notes: \n\n\n\n\nDrinks\, snacks\, and swag will not be provided at the end of this event. Please bring water and snacks to keep with you at the work site.\n\n\n\nParking passes will be provided; no parking fee is required.\n\n\n\nVolunteer waivers will be available at the work site. They will need to be signed prior to beginning work. DESCRIPTION:SHIFT is back at Marble Mountain! Join us for a weekend of trail work and riding. \n\n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nGreat news! Our weekend party around a work party is back! \n\n\n\nWork party date: Saturday\, July 17th\, 2024 / 9 am-3 pm \n\n\n\nCampout dates: Friday\, July 16th – Sunday\, July 18th. Informal social rides will be happening all weekend! \n\n\n\nMeet at Marble Mountain Sno Park (NF-83\, Cougar WA 98616) \n\n\n\nWe will be working in areas you will have to access via riding your bike. When registering\, please be honest with your riding skill and stamina in order for us to get you into the right work group. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring for the work party: \n\n\n\n* Work clothes: Light long sleeve shirt\, Long pants (no shorts)\, boots\, gloves\, eye protection\, and gloves \n\n\n\n* Jacket (be prepared) \n\n\n\n* Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory) \n\n\n\n* Water \n\n\n\n* Snacks \n\n\n\n* Lunch \n\n\n\nNWTA will have tools available\, but please bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes\, McLeod\, rouge hoe\, loppers) \n\n\n\nAfter the work party on Saturday\, dinner will be provided for all volunteers (please pre-register). Adult beverages are generously provided by Hopworks.\n\n\n\nPlease be prepared and bring enough food and water for yourself and your group for the remainder of the weekend. Please bring reusable plates/cutlery for a more sustainable event. Garbage will not be provided\, participants will be packing out what they pack in. \n\n\n\nCampout details: \n\n\n\nOur basecamp for the weekend will be at Marble Mountain Sno Park. This is a paved parking lot with areas close by ideal for dispersed camping. There is also ample space for RVs and campers; however\, no electricity or water on site. Be prepared and bring everything that you need. \n\n\n\nBathroom – 2 vault toilets (bring toilet paper!). \n\n\n\nPET (DOG) OWNERS: If you bring your pet\, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the basecamp.
