Summary of work goals

  • Stabilize parts of the existing trail tread
  • Narrow the existing trail in some areas; widen in others
  • Improve drainage in areas of the existing trail most susceptible to puddling and widening

Specific work focus

  • The Hagg Lake Trail has numerous sections in low-lying, wet, flat terrain vulnerable to erosion, mud build-up, and deterioration. Our overarching goal for the day is to help stabilize a few of those areas by deberming them, scraping off the top layers of duff and other organic matter, applying aggregate (when needed), and helping to re-establish the outslope. Additionally, when needed, we’ll add a few rolling grade dips, knicks, and drainage dips.
  • One area we’ll be working at will need work re-establishing the existing bench cut along the backslope.
