NWTA Leadership Bios – Eric Oliver

Eric grew up exploring the woods around his home in rural New Hampshire on foot, skis, and bikes. His love for outdoor adventure has led him to bike tour abroad, thru-hike the Pacific Northwest Trail, and lead backcountry trail maintenance crews. Before arriving in Portland, Eric lived in Boise, ID, where the city’s vast trail network helped to rekindle his childhood love of mountain biking.

Eric comes to NWTA with a range of experience in education and the nonprofit sector. His nonprofit experience includes advocating for human rights in Latin America and U.S. foreign policy; and work to advance environmental and conservation goals. Eric spent two years working with Northwest Youth Corps to connect young people with meaningful work experiences on public lands, and he served as the facilitator for the Idaho Conservation League’s Emerging Leaders Program. Most recently, he taught high school courses on design thinking at Sage International School of Boise. Eric holds an undergraduate degree in International Relations and Spanish and a master’s degree in Teaching.

In addition to building his skills on a mountain bike, Eric enjoys skiing, backpacking, and trail running. When indoors, he loves reading and savoring a good cup of coffee with his wife and their cat Cecil. Eric enjoys listening to reggaeton music and can’t say no to potato chips.
