Gorge 400 Work Party and Optional Campout on 5/21

Join NWTA at the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area for its 1st work party/campout weekend in 2022.

Workparty Date: Saturday May 21, 2022 / 9am-3pm
Campout Dates: Friday, May 20th – Sunday, May 22nd.
Meet at the Wyeth Campground next to the Wyeth Trailhead at 750 Herman Creek Rd. Cascade Locks, OR 97014.
Within the project to build new trails near Cascade Locks, we have also been asked to Rehabilitate the existing Gorge 400 trail. The project provides a unique opportunity to work on rock treads, drainages, a stream crossing, and a spring.
All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Bikes are not needed for the work party, but you are welcome to bring them if you want to ride the trails afterward. You will not be within sight of your vehicle & you will want to be sure to secure your bike.
What to bring for the work party:
* Work clothes: Light long sleeve shirt, Long Pants (no shorts), Boots, Gloves, Eye Protection & Gloves
* Jacket (be prepared)
* Hard hat or bike helmet (mandatory)
* Water
* Snacks
* Lunch
* Face Covering as recommended by the CDC (in case we can’t maintain social proper social distancing)
NWTA will have tools will available, but please bring your favorite tread tool if you have one (rakes, McLeod, rouge hoe, loppers)

Campout details:
NWTA has reserved large group sites at the Wyeth Campground for volunteers to stay at no charge. These sites can accommodate up to 18 vehicles (must pre-register with the NWTA camping option). If you are interested in camping and would like a site of your own, feel free to reserve at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/122940
Food will not be provided for Friday night campers
After the work party, NWTA will provide a cooler of beverages, Beer from our generous sponsor, HOPWORKS. Several BBQs will be available for use.
PET (DOG) OWNERS: NWTA will have a group site within the public campground. If you bring your pet, know that you cannot leave them unattended at the campground. Due to the steep hillside & narrow terrain of the trail, we DO NOT recommend that they join you while working on the trail.
Please bring firewood if you can.
