Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA) is on the lookout for mountain biking advocates, event-coordination masterminds, and fundraising wizards to join our Board of Directors! Whether you’re a freeriding daredevil or someone who’s recently fallen in love with mountain biking, this is your chance to help steer the future of off-road cycling in our region and make a lasting impact on our community, our trails, and our mission.
What does the board do?
NWTA’s Board of Directors is the heartbeat of our organization. They are the ones ensuring our mission stays on track, leading the way for strategic initiatives, managing our financial resources, and keeping the wheels turning as we work to enhance the mountain biking experience for riders of all backgrounds. But the board always needs fresh ideas to help keep our trails in good shape and our community growing.
The board’s key responsibilities include:
- Mission oversight: Making sure we’re staying true to our purpose—creating a fun, safe, and sustainable environment for mountain biking in our community
- Strategic planning: Helping shape the future direction of NWTA, ensuring we grow, improve, and continue to be a leader in the mountain biking world
- Financial management: Making sure we’re financially healthy so we can invest in new trails, programs, and projects that benefit all riders
Who are we looking for?
Ideal board candidates are:
- Passionate leaders who are ambassadors for NWTA’s mission and advocacy efforts
- Enthusiasts who are familiar with our trail networks and the hard work that NWTA and our land management partners put in to maintain them
- Community-minded individuals who are committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of our work
- Experienced problem-solvers who thrive in collaboration, whether it’s figuring out how to manage budgets or developing programs that create a more welcoming community for riders of all abilities, backgrounds, and identities
How to get involved
Think you’ve got what it takes to shine on the NWTA Board of Directors? We want to hear from you! Board positions are elected in January, and each position comes with a two-year tenure. This means you’ll have plenty of time to get up to speed and bring your unique vision to the organization.
This year, we are seeking people to fill specific roles in the organization rather than generic at-large roles.
Positions we are looking to fill are:
- Volunteer director
- Grant writer
- Project director
- Fundraising director
- Events director
- Community and membership director
