We will ride if it is lightly raining, but we may cancel if it is a heavy rain. Watch your emails by 7:30 am the day of the class.

Neo Newts:

Rider Experience: Beginners with 0 – ½ years of riding on dirt trails and are on a 2-wheeled pedal bike. No training wheels.

These riders may know how to ride or they are starting to pedal. They have fun cruising around a park or in front of the house. They can go on short rides (up to 1 mile) with the family or friends. They can get going, pedal and stop unaided on pavement. They are able to pick up the bike if it falls over. They are comfortable riding a bike on pavement and bike paths.

Newts are interested in taking it to the trails and may be working on standing on the pedals, shifting and cornering, and is already or is interested in riding in grass, gravel, off low curbs, or over small sticks and through puddles and on varied terrain such as a pump track or rolling terrain.

During this class: these riders will improve their balance by standing on the pedals, learn to vary body position, brake more confidently and corner more smoothly. They’ll learn to climb, descend and ride with confidence and have fun rolling over features up to 4-6” high, if they want — all while keeping the wheels on the ground.

Bike: A Neo Newt’s bike has platform pedals, hand brake(s) preferred, and is in good working condition with tires suitable for dirt trails. Single speeds and kick stands are OK. No training wheels. A Newt’s helmet fits properly, is in good condition and is less than 5 years old.
