We will ride if it is lightly raining, but we may cancel if it is a heavy rain. Watch your emails by 7:30 am the day of the class.

Tadpoles: Rider Experience: Beginner with 0 – ½ years of riding, on a balance bike

These riders aren’t pedaling yet but have fun cruising around a park or in front of the house. They can go on short rides (up to .5 mile) with family or friends but might need to be carried for a bit. They can get going and stop on pavement. They may be able to pick up the bike if it falls over, but they probably need a little help from Mom/Dad/Guardian. They are comfortable riding on pavement and bike paths.

Tadpoles love to scoot around at their own pace, sometimes at impressive speeds! They enjoy their balance bike on pavement, hard-packed trails and varied terrains such as pump tracks and even sizeable rolling features, curbs and through puddles. They may show no fear but might get upset if things don’t go as planned.

During this class: these riders will improve their balance by looking where they are going and picking up their feet. They’ll learn to paddle up a climb, coast down and have fun rolling over smooth, flowing features.

Bike: A Tadpole’s bike is a balance bike or it may have pedals (ideal) or foot pegs. It may have a hand brake and is in good working condition with NO training wheels. Single speeds and kick stands are OK. A Tadpole’s helmet fits properly, is in good condition and is less than 5 years old.
