Major Progress at CLIMB Moves Cascade Locks Trail System Forward

Forty-five volunteers showed up at CLIMB on March 21 and delivered one of the most productive dig days of the season.

Finishing Peregrination and Improving Flow

The biggest milestone of the day was completing the eastern section of Peregrination. Crews hand-finished the trail following earlier machine work, helping connect the system into more cohesive and rideable loops.

This improvement reduces the need for road transfers and allows riders to stay on trail longer, creating a better overall experience across the system.

Targeted Improvements Across the System

Work extended beyond Peregrination.

Crews tuned several turns on Buteo Drop to improve flow and continued refining the Ouroboros rock garden. Another group handled essential maintenance by repairing the trailer used to transport trail-building equipment, helping protect critical infrastructure that supports ongoing work.

A Big Crew and Strong Partnerships

This dig day was powered by a large and motivated group, with strong support from Metropolis Cycle Repair and Portland Design Works. Both partners brought out employees, friends, and family, along with coffee, donuts, and plenty of stoke to keep the day moving.

Looking Ahead to What’s Next

With major items checked off this season’s list, attention is already shifting toward the future.

Next year’s focus will include construction of approximately 3.5 miles of new trail known as Foehn Line. The trail will head east from Ouroboros toward Wyeth Campground, featuring technical and predominantly downhill terrain.
