PBOT is recruiting new members for the Portland Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC)

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is currently recruiting applications for 13 new BAC members to serve a two-year term. The BAC is a City Advisory Body that advises City Council and all departments of the City (though primarily PBOT) on all matters that encourage and enhance bicycling as a means of transportation, recreation, wellness, and environmental enhancement.

The BAC is a 20-member committee that meets once a month (currently virtually) to review and comment on City projects and other transportation-related initiatives, as well as projects, lead by partner agencies. Committee activities typically include reviewing and making recommendations on transportation planning documents, project designs, and funding priorities as they impact bicycle transportation.

The attached Word doc (below) provides a bit more description and also includes a link to the application, which is also here.

People who live, work, play, worship, conduct business, or attend school in the city of Portland are invited to apply. We are looking for members who bring a wide variety of perspectives and experiences, including but not limited to: experience navigating the city with a disability, racial equity, climate change and environmental justice, business transportation interests, as well as youth and senior transportation interests. We would love the committee to include people who live or serve in communities that have historically been marginalized in the planning process and whose voices have often been overlooked. We hope this committee can help amplify these individuals and provide a new perspective.
