If you love Phil’s Shred Factory at Rocky Point, you were in good company on November 22. A dedicated crew of volunteers came out to give this popular trail a much-needed tune-up, focusing on flow, durability, and rider experience.

The group tackled several problem areas that had developed over time. Tire ruts and brake bumps were filled and smoothed, restoring consistent tread through high-use sections. New catch berms were added after the rooty corner and the second drop, along with a larger berm designed to carry speed and improve control through the turn.

The trail entrance and exit both saw major improvements. An overgrown entrance was cleared and reshaped, while the rutty exit was repaired to create a cleaner, more predictable line. The second drop was filled and leveled to eliminate the bucking effect riders had been experiencing, and the steep roll below was smoothed out for a more reliable roll-in.
Additional work included clearing a leaning tree and removing a large tree ball from the corridor. Thanks to the sawyers on site, those hazards were handled quickly and efficiently, keeping the project moving smoothly.

This work will make Phil’s Shred Factory more fun, more sustainable, and better suited to the volume of riders it sees throughout the year. A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to the project. We know there are many ways to spend a day off, and we truly appreciate the commitment to keeping Rocky Point trails riding great.
We are looking forward to the next dry spell to see how these updates ride and to watch riders set some new Phil’s personal records.
