What You’ll Support
NWTA is a Portland region cycling-focused trail stewardship and advocacy organization. We sustainably build and maintain trails, advocate for trail access, and provide mountain bike clinics and programs. Through this work, along with the volunteers that give thousands of hours of volunteer time each year, we create opportunities for everyone to enjoy access to the outdoors through bikes and trails. Along with additional donor and membership support, your contributions will help provide this year:
- Up to five new miles of trail at Rocky Point
- Community riding events like LapQuest at Cascade Locks, the Klootchy Creek Dirt Wave race, and Sandy Ridge shuttle
- Trail Sustainability Institute advanced trail school trainings and annual basic trail school classes
- Nine new total miles open in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area
- Trail maintenance and dig days in the Tillamook State Forest, Cascade Locks, Sandy Ridge, Rocky Point, Hagg Lake, Falls Creek, Mt. St. Helens and parks in the City of Portland
- After-school mountain bike programming in East Portland

River City Bicycles and Specialized, a love-of-cycling story
In 1994 Dave Guettler was driving around Portland with Mike Sinyard, president of Specialized to scout potential sites for a bike store. Five months later River City Bicycles opened its doors with cherry wood fixtures that Dave crafted himself and Specialized as one of its foundational brands. Both businesses have continued their paths of innovation as well as instilling the love of cycling in as many people as possible.
