** Trail work report **
Written by Nathan Frechen, Tillamook LST
On Saturday, January 7th, 2023, 16 volunteers made their way out to the Tillamook State Forest to remove trees knocked down in recent wind events. Breaking into three crews, they managed to clear over 7 miles worth of non-motorized trails and removed around 45 logs (and approximately one million branches). The trails cleared were:
- The entirety of Storey Burn
- Sicktar Lars (although some branches remain)
- Gales Creek trail from Gales Creek campground to the intersection with Storey Burn (17 logs down in less than 1 mile on this trail)
There will be more work occurring out there in the future for storm cleanup and planned trail improvements; stay tuned for more to come in the future!
