On May 11, nineteen people attended a basic bike maintenance clinic generously hosted by Trek Beaverton!
Everyone began the evening with a bit of socializing while enjoying the NWTA x Hopworks Trail Time IPA. Matt at Trek Beaverton is a clinic pro, and started the clinic off by soliciting what information participants were really wanting to know to make sure everyone walked out with new knowledge. We covered basic chain and brake maintenance, fixing a flat, what types of skills are must-haves for when things go awry on the trail (because they occasionally do), and what tools are good for the at-home basic maintenance arsenal.
What’s more, Sheila Delaney from Smith Optics was a special guest to speak to our group of women about basic helmet facts and answer questions (and bust myths!) about the simple steps to protect our heads.
HUGE thank you to Trek Beaverton and Hopworks Brewery for making this clinic possible in an environment that was safe and supportive for women to ask questions and gain knowledge.
Thank you as well to ALL NWTA members and sponsors, who help make opportunities like this FREE and open to all.
