Trail Work Recap: Gales Creek Gets a Wet Weather Refresh

Recap by Nathan Frechen

A little rain never stops the NWTA community. On a soggy but satisfying day out by Gales Creek Campground, a small but mighty crew tackled some much-needed trail work on the Gales Creek Trail between Summit Trailhead and the campground.

Kevin, Allie, Aaron, and Michael joined the effort to remove two large downed trees with stubborn rootwads that had blocked the trail. With the help of a rock bar and come-along, they were able to muscle the debris out of the way and restore clear passage. Along the way, the group also performed some tread tune-ups to improve trail conditions for riders and hikers alike.

Aaron ventured farther down the trail with a handsaw and scouted toward the Storey Burn junction, removing a couple of bonus smaller trees along the way. Thanks to their combined efforts, this popular stretch of trail is riding better and safer again.

The next scheduled dig day has been moved to Saturday, November 15th. If you were already signed up via Eventbrite, your spot is still secure, and no action is needed.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up and put in the work. We will see you out on the trail again soon.
