Willamette G!ve Guide 2020

Written by Bob Lessard and Kelsea De Filippis

The NWTA has been looking to participate in the Willamette Give Guide for quite a few years. It’s a great fundraising initiative for local non-profits. We are proud to finally make the cut in 2020. We hope that you have a good look and find places where you can make a difference. There are many worthy causes that could use your support. Check out the Big Give Days calendar for the days where giving comes with some pretty nice perks.

We entered in the Environmental category alongside quite a few prominent organizations. We are teaming up with two of our Platinum Sponsors and an anonymous donor for some incentives we hope will help raise funds for our trails. When you donate $25 – $49 to NWTA, an anonymous donor will match your donation. When you donate $50 or more, they will double your donation! Double or Triple the give! On top of that, if you donate $25 or more to NWTA, you will have double the chance to win a Trek Marlin5 or FX 1 Disk bike from the Bike Gallery. With a donation of $50 or more, you’ll receive a 50% discount on bike overhaul and tuneup packages from CyclepathPDX in January and February of 2021.

Mission

Our mission is to create opportunities to enjoy cycling in nature, to foster a community of engaged volunteers, and to build a culture of land stewardship and environmental responsibility.

Bottom Line for Portland

People need to spend time enjoying nature and the outdoors. Portland is famous for being a cycling city, but it needs more off-road cycling options to get away from cars. The Northwest Trail Alliance organizes volunteers and provides resources to help local government keep pace with a growing demand for off-road cycling. In 2019, our community contributed over 25,000 volunteer hours in support of local outdoor recreation opportunities.

Incentives

Donate $25 or more and get a chance to win a Trek Marlin5 or FX 1 Disk bike from the Bike Gallery. Donate $50 or more to receive a 50% discount on bike overhaul and tuneup packages from Cyclepath in January and February of 2021. Plus, an anonymous donor will match donations of $25 or more, and will match double for donations of $50 or more (up to $10,000 total). Double or triple your donation!

“The Northwest Trail Alliance (NWTA) has been a vital partner in the development and stewardship of Gateway Green over the last four years. They demonstrate their passion not only by enjoying riding in the park, but through their volunteer work and advocacy for riders of all ages, skill levels and abilities. Portland Parks & Recreation appreciates our partnership with NWTA, and the work they do to help Portlanders stay active and enjoying the outdoors.” —Portland Parks & Recreation landscape architect Ross Swanson
