Volunteer and Get Involved!
There are many ways you can get involved and help us building a stronger community of mountain bikers, off-road cyclists and trail advocates.
- Join us for one of our group rides, at a trail work party or at our monthly meeting (check our calendar for all that and more).
- Become a supporting member of Northwest Trail Alliance and IMBA or consider a donation.
- Become an advocate and steward of trails and other off-road facilities in our communities. Speak up for the preservation of existing trails and creation of new trails in public forums, on citizen advisroy boards and various lcoal committees.
- Evangelize: talk to your friends, colleagues, neighbors about the joys of riding on trails and dirt. Take them on a maiden ride, teach them the basics of riding trails (riding skills, trail etiquette, proper gear, safety rules, etc), introduce them to other friends who ride. Get them hooked!
Volunteer Hour Tracking & Rewards
Every year, we recognize and reward our top volunteers at our general meeting. For 2010, we are working on a state-of-the-art, online Volunteer Hour Tracking Tool, that will make it easier for you to submit your volunteer hours, whether you participated in trail work parties, staffed our booth at events, lead rides, or represented us on committees and public meetings. Keeping complete records of the many hours our volunteers put in throughout the year, is key to demonstrate to land managers, agencies, partnering advocacy groups, and the community at large the difference we make on the trails and in our community. This tool will also be used to identify and reward our top volunteers at the end of the year.
Stay tuned for more details on this exciting new volunteer tracking program, which we plan to launch in spring 2010. In the meantime, please continue to submit your volunteer hours by email to Fred McGregor (fred@nw-trail.org).
Expense Reimbursement Requests
Trail Stewards and other core volunteers who organize trail care parties or other Northwest Trail Alliance sanctioned events can request reimbursement of basic expenses related to these eventsĀ by emailing our Treasurer Amy Singmaster (amy@nw-trail.org). Note: expenses have to be approved PRIOR to the event, in order to qualify for reimbursement.
Expenses that might qualify for reimbursement include:
- equipment/materials for trail care and trail structures
- copy/print expenses for flyers
Expense requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Treasurer, who might pass them for approval to the Budget Committee or the Board of Directors.
