We had some great weather for our latest and largest Rocky Point build party. 71 people came out to work on the north side trails on Saturday November 16th.
Two extensions to existing trails and a new connector trail linking the north and south trail systems resulted in over a mile of new trail. New berms, benching, and general repair were the themes on several miles of the existing trail. We had eight great crew leaders who helped direct and train all the volunteers, giving a boost to everyone’s trail building skills. And through our Trail Sustainability Institute, we were able to train 10 new crew leaders for future trail work parties.
It was great to watch new trails practically appear on the floor of the forest and clear cut in just a few hours. Existing trails were also buffed into beautiful ribbons of single track through the woods. It was so impressive to witness such a large group come out and support the mountain biking community, have fun, and learn new skills. The volunteers were energized — so excited to have a legitimate mountain biking trail system so close to Portland.
Extra thanks go Fat Tire Farm for their support, extra trail builders, food, drink, raffle items, and swag bags for everyone!
