A group from the local community gathered at the park early Saturday morning, ready to work on the dirt jumps. Local Stewardship Team lead Brian Shelton arranged for an excavator that was generously on loan from Mountainwood Homes to rework the dirt from the jumps on the southside of the park. Volunteers of all ages jumped right in to reshape the mounds to allow for the planned expansion work that will be happening later this month.
Along with work on the south side, they were also able to rework the main area of the jump line. Machine operator Chad navigated through the center of the track and moved dirt around, allowing the group to reshape many jumps. With so many hands working, the group made a lot of progress. “The work that was done today has been on my list of things to do for several years,” says Brian Shelton. Thank you to everyone who came out to help. The expansion and improvement work continues; our next work party is on Saturday, May 8th, from 9:30 am – 2 pm. Details and registration can be found HERE.
The pump track at Eichler Park is the Beaverton area’s first dirt jump course that opened in September 2011. Northwest Trail Alliance designed, built & maintains the course in partnership with Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation District, which owns and operates Eichler Park.
