In the last few years, the Northwest Trail Alliance has signed several new stewardship agreements, grown its membership, and built a much larger community of trail stewards. The NWTA has grown the size of its operations by 500%. But another important thing has changed as well. Most of Portland’s mountain bike industry has become actively involved. We can confidently say that the industry supports what the NWTA is doing. And while the financial support helps fund more trail projects, it also deepens our community ties. Bike shops, component and accessory manufacturers, and retailers have always been homes to communities of cyclists. With more and more support from the industry, the community built by the NWTA’s activities finds itself closing ranks with the community built by industry. We are better for it. Everyone is working together now.
