On Saturday, November 29, a crew of eight volunteers headed out to Henry Hagg Lake to keep work moving on an important trail re-route. With clear skies, temperatures around 50 degrees, and almost no wind, conditions were just aboutperfect for a late fall work party.

This project focuses on a section of the Henry Hagg Lake Loop Trail that has been closed due to significant tread damage and erosion. The goal is to build a more sustainable route so riders, runners, and walkers can get back to enjoying a fullloop around the lake.
The crew picked up where previous work parties left off, continuing to shape the new trail corridor. They broadcast a large volume of debris from below the outslope of the new tread, continued bench cutting along the re-route, and kept clearing the corridor. By the end of the day, volunteers had removed multiple downed trees, thick brush, and heavy vegetation, opening up more of the future alignment.

Highlights from the day included the great weather and a strong, dialed-in crew. Addison, Samantha, Scott, Mark, Todd, Geoff, and Brian brought steady effort and good spirits to the work. Even as the mud deepens and makes tool work more challenging this time of year, the group kept at it and pushed the project forward.
This re-route is an important step in getting a damaged section of trail back into regular use. Once complete, it will improve overall trail quality, reduce maintenance needs, and provide a safer, more enjoyable experience for everyone who spends time at Hagg Lake.

NWTA would also like to thank Runyon Canyon Apparel for sponsoring the event. Their support and the swag they sent for work party attendees added an extra boost to the day and helped recognize the volunteers who are putting in the hours to keep local trails in great shape.
Work will continue on this re-route through the dig season. Keep an eye on the NWTA event calendar for upcoming Hagg Lake work parties and consider joining us to help finish this important section of trail.
