Hagg Lake Trail Maintenance Update

Why the Hagg Lake Loop Trail Reroute Matters

On Sunday, December 7, a hardworking crew of 10 volunteers returned to Henry Hagg Lake to continue shaping a new section of trail along the Loop Trail reroute. This project has been a major focus for NWTA this season, and each work party brings us closer to reopening a damaged part of the loop that has been closed due to erosion and a fallen bridge.

Volunteer Crew Pushes Trail Restoration Forward

The team picked up where earlier crews left off, refining the alignment, smoothing tread, and clearing remaining debris from the corridor. This part of the trail demands steady attention, and the volunteers kept the momentum going throughout the day.

Welcoming New Volunteers to NWTA Trail Work

A highlight of the event was the strong turnout, including four first-time NWTA volunteers. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspective added great energy to an already motivated group. With winter conditions setting in and the window for tread work narrowing, having new hands jump in made a meaningful difference.

Building a Sustainable and Resilient Trail at Hagg Lake

This project matters because the Loop Trail is a key part of the recreation experience at Hagg Lake. The reroute will create a more resilient and sustainable connection, improving drainage, reducing long-term maintenance, and restoring access to a full loop that hikers, runners, and riders rely on. Once completed, the community will have a safer and more reliable trail in a heavily used part of the system.

How You Can Join Upcoming Hagg Lake Work Parties

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this phase of the reroute. Progress on projects like this is possible only because of dedicated volunteers who continue to show up and invest in the places they love.

More Hagg Lake work parties are planned throughout the dig season. Keep an eye on the NWTA calendar if you would like to join the next round of trail building.
