A small but focused crew of four volunteers made big progress at Hagg Lake on March 14, completing a key re-route section along the Loop Trail.

Completing a Critical Trail Re-Route
The team finalized a new section of trail connecting South Shore 2 and The Peninsula, marking a major milestone in an ongoing effort to improve this part of the system.
This re-route replaces a section of trail that had been steadily eroding toward the shoreline below, with drop-offs nearing 75 feet. The new alignment improves safety, protects the surrounding landscape, and creates a more sustainable long-term solution for trail users.

Leadership and Craft on the Trail
The day’s success was driven by strong leadership and clear vision from the crew. Addison led the effort with a focused plan for the re-route, while Samantha took the lead on shaping a new berm to guide riders smoothly into the new section, adding both function and flow to the trail.

Finishing this re-route not only addresses a serious erosion issue, but also improves the overall riding experience with a safer, more intuitive line.
Projects like this are a reminder that even a handful of dedicated volunteers can shape the future of a trail.
