The Gateway Green skills area has been closed for almost a month as it undergoes a complete redesign!
Currently the project is still in the rough stages of shaping, and things are going quite well. Rough shaping includes a dual slalom line that is looking amazing, and all green and blue progression lines are nearly complete. The goal was to have all the shaping finished this weekend, but like everything else in the city, we’ll be building in some snow days!
Following the final shaping we will be doing the fine detailing. At that stage, there will be a call out for the public to come and help us fine-tune the new area. Weather permitting, this will be around mid- to late-March. The goal is for the project to be complete by the end April.
NWTA is INCREDIBLY grateful to volunteer Tim Copeman, our lead steward at Gateway Green. Thank you as well to key volunteers Nathan Frechen, Mark Rainha and Ruandy Albisurez. Shoutout to regular Gateway Green volunteers Lucas, Keenan, Travis, KC, Brian, Jim, Rick and Saulo! Everyone has been beyond stoked to be a part of this project and help improve a great space for the local community to enjoy riding.
Thank you as well to contractor Jason Wells of Sasquatch Trails; and to our partners @portlandparks, @stacyandwitbeck, @trimet, @pbsusainc and @imba_us for helping to make this project a reality.
REMINDER: Always remember to please respect the area closures while the work is being done. Talented builders from many local trail areas have come together for this redesign, and staying off of the trails during construction respects their work! Questions? Email [email protected].
