Winter is a great time to get your bike tuned up — and to spend some time learning how to do it yourself! Basic bike maintenance can be daunting if you’ve never delved into it. The biggest challenge in learning is often just asking the questions, and feeling comfortable in doing so.
NWTA is excited that our dedicated local bike shops are joining us in offering a series of Mountain Bike Maintenance classes throughout the winter season. You’ll learn basic maintenance that any rider should know, from solving pesky mid-ride issues to keeping your bike riding smooth in between larger maintenance requirements.
The first class will be hosted on Monday, November 14 by our friends at Cyclepath. Join the NW Trail Sisters of NWTA and Cyclepath PDX for a night of basic mountain bike maintenance for women and non-binary riders. Additional classes open to all will be announced soon!
Special thanks to our local bike shops who sponsor the trailwork and programming of NWTA:

Monday, November 14:
We’ll start the night with a happy ½ hour at 5:30pm, where you can sip on a cold drink while shopping and socializing with your fellow Trail Sisters.
At 6pm we will hit the ground running with a discussion on what tools you should carry, how to complete a pre-ride check of your bike, and regular maintenance intervals.
Then we will break into small groups for some hands-on practice plugging tires, installing/replacing tubes, and more! You’ll work side-by-side with Cyclepath’s expert mechanics. We encourage you to ask questions and take advantage of their wealth of knowledge!
This event is open to women and non-binary riders of all skill levels or experience. Draft beers will be available for purchase, non-alcoholic drinks will be hosted. For the sake of space, please leave your bike at home. While we love pets, we also ask to leave them at home as well.
