The US Forest Service has announced that the gravel road connecting the end of the single track of the Plain of Abraham Trail to Spirit Lake will be closed for maintenance during the week this summer.
What this means:
1) You cannot ride the full Smith Creek Loop during the week (Monday through Friday)
2) But you *can* ride the full Smith Creek Loop during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
This does not impact the classic Ape Canyon/Plain of Abraham out-n-back route.
Additionally, the the ToutlePop route on the west side of the mountain is clear as well.

During our upcoming SHIFT event, we’ll work on the trails that make up both of these great backcountry routes.
We’d also like to give a huge shoutout to the HRATS crew that brushed out the upper section of the Smith Creek Trail. It was very overgrown and needed a lot of tread work. Thanks so much, Tim B., Andrew R., Charlie, and Jonathon G!
