Trail Sisters Rocky Point Beginner-Level Ride Recap

Written by Nancy Stone, Education & Sustainability Director ([email protected])

The Trail Sisters are at it again at Rocky Point! This time a group of 11 folks joined the beginner-level ride on Monday evening. Before hitting the trails, we learned how to do a pre-ride bike safety check as well as a few quick exercises on bike/body separation.

From there, we hit the trails, warming up on the Base Camp figure 8 and then heading out on Andyland. From the top of Andyland, we were greeted with a clear 5-peak view of Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, Mt Adams, Mt Hood, and Mt Jefferson, as well as Portland and the farmlands of Sauvie Island; a perfect place for a snack and group shot.

We practiced our bike/body separation as we winded back down the trail toward the trailhead, where we culminated with drinks, snacks, and community building. Everyone was encouraged to “get awkward” and start exchanging phone numbers and making new riding friends. All in all, it was a great evening with beautiful weather and lovely people riding their bikes and having fun.

Our next Trail Sisters event will be at Rocky Point again in the form of an Intermediate Plus/Advanced Skills Clinic on Sunday, July 24th. Learn more HERE. Continue to follow us on NWTA’s social media pages as well as @nwtrailsisters on IG.
