A friend told me that the Brown's camp area was now closed to MTBs. Is this true? What about the motorcyclists? I always saw more of them there than MTB riders.

 

I've "googled" around but have been unable to find any definitive information on a possible closure.

Am I the only one that has been running into a large number of hikers/walkers, loose dogs, and dog s**t on the trail at Scappoose this year? Now I am totally cool with people walking the trails with dogs, I am down with sharing, what's irritating me is:

 

 1. the typical grumpy hiker stares with no responses despite my pleasant greeting, and yes, I slow down when approaching.

 2. Loose dogs that chase me, growling, barking, and trying to bite me. Now I ride with several people who bring their dogs and they are all responsible with them.

New loop extension mostly done, plus started on south lower trail.  What is highlighted in green is what has been constructed so far.   There's more than 6 miles of single track planned.   see below for 2009 stats.

...what was done got done over 6 scheduled build days plus 3 adhoc prep days.

Open to  mountain bikers and cyclocross riders!   Pedal Nation is ride group based out of Hillsboro for mountain bikers as well as road riding.

Pedal Nation leading fun/"easy" (depending on your fitness level, post Thanksgiving Day) group ride from Buxton trailhead (on Banks-Vernonia Trail) into L.L. Stub Stewart State Park up Hares Canyon trail to mountain biking zone and doing the loop, then back out and ending at Buxton trailhead.

A reminder to everyone that trails in Scappoose are closed after dark.  The police have noted some bike riders in there after dark.  They will start ticketing anyone in violation.  This rule is enforced on all Longview Fibre property.

 

Local trail build volunteer is planning to do some finishing work on the upper north loop in mountain biking area which is under construction right now.   Needs your help!
